Common questions
Are agreements signed on keysig legally binding?
keysig uses secure electronic signatures, and are legally recognized for most agreements. Whether any specific agreement is enforceable depends on its terms and your situation, which is why we recommend having important agreements reviewed by counsel.
Do I need a lawyer to use this?
keysig is a self-help tool: you fill in plain-language templates for common deals, like , producer agreements and , and send them for signature yourself. It isn't a law firm and doesn't give legal advice, and a template isn't tailored to your situation. For any agreement that matters to you, we strongly recommend having a lawyer review it before you sign.
Are the agreements made using generative AI?
No. Every keysig template is written and reviewed by music attorneys, and updated periodically as industry practice and the law change. Generative AI does not draft, edit, or fill in the legal text.
What if the other person doesn't want to sign?
That's usually a bigger red flag than a scheduling issue. But keysig makes it easy to send, remind, and track status, so "I forgot" stops being an excuse.
Can I use this if I'm not based in the US?
Right now keysig's templates are built around US law, so they're the best fit for artists working under US agreements. We're not the right tool yet if you need something governed by another country's law. Tell us where you're based at hello@keysig.co; it helps us decide where to expand next.
What happens to my signed agreements?
They're kept in one place in your keysig account for as long as your account is open, so you can pull them up whenever you need.
